A Brief History of IPC Warri
The Islamic Propagation Centre, Warri, was established in 1987 by a group of civil servants and other professionals working in Delta Steel Company (DSC) Aladja, Delta Glass Company, Ughelli and subsidiaries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Warri. The membership participation expanded later to include other Muslims working in Shell (SPDC), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) and many other establishments in Warri and environs.
Objectives of IPC Warri
The reasons for forming the IPC are to primarily call and teach the religion of Islam to the people of the Niger Delta region with emphasis on Warri and environs. It also focuses on invigorating the Muslims Communities within the region to learn and know Islam according to the teaching of the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
To achieve these objectives:
• The organization work on committee System.
• Registration with CAC in 2006.
• Recruitment and deployment of teachers.
Achievements
(1) The first is unity of the Umma.
(2) The centrer activities have led to the emergence of various Muslim Communities in the following towns and villages:
Agbarha-otor, Ughelli, Ufuoma, Odovie, Oghior, Egini, Kivie/Ujevwu, Abavo, Igbogili, Orhoakpor, Amai, Oghara, Ugolo, Okpara Inland, Olomoro, Oleh, Ozoro, Kokori, Ofagbe, Aladja, Ekakpamre and Agbarho. We also have significant support and presence in the N.N.P.C Housing Complex and Aka-Layout Effurun.

(4) Centrer for Islamic Studies (CIS) in Agbarha-Otor.
(5) AnnoorNursary and Primary school.
(6) Development projects at the secretariat and several locations.
Challenges
a) The Islamic needs of these communities constitute the standing challenges of the IPC. These involve having a functioning Secretariat for the IPC, resident Islamic teachers, masjids to serve as worship and learning centres as well as scholarship and vocational training for reverts. Other challenges are employment opportunities for the reverts, prospective Muslim husbands for female reverts, and setting up of schools/training centres for reverts in a few locations within their localities and a sustainable welfare package based on the Islamic principle of worship and welfare.

Presently, the Centre is not able to meet up to 40% of these needs, owing mainly to lack of funds and resources. One sad observation is that, careful attempts are made to control expansion because of our inability to cope effectively with what has already been achieved.
Conclusion
We call on all well meaning Muslims to come to the aid of I.P.C. Let us work together for the expansion of Islam. Allah says: Only those are the believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and have never since doubted but strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allah.
